This Privacy Policy explains how Asteriks ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with your use of the Asteriks mobile application (the "App"). At Asteriks, we're committed to protecting your privacy and providing a secure money management experience.

1. Our Commitment to Your Privacy: Offline Data Processing

Asteriks is designed with your privacy as a core principle. We don't collect, store, or transmit any of your personal financial data or usage data to our servers. All of your financial information, transactions, categories, budgets, and any other data you input into Asteriks are stored locally on your device only.
  1. Your data is truly yours: We have no access to your financial information.
  2. No user accounts: You don't need to create an account with us to use Asteriks.
  3. No cloud synchronization: We don't offer or perform any cloud synchronization of your data.

2. What Information Asteriks Collects (and Doesn't Collect)

  • Information You Provide Directly (Stored Locally):
    When you use Asteriks, you'll input financial data such as:
    • Transaction details (amounts, dates, descriptions)
    • Account balances and names
    • Budget categories
    • Any notes or tags you add to your financial entries
    This information is processed and stored exclusively on your device.
  • Information We Do NOT Collect:
    • Personal identifiers (name, email address, phone number)
    • Financial account numbers or credentials
    • Location data
    • Usage analytics related to your financial data
    • Any data that would allow us to identify you or your financial activities.

3. How Your Information is Used (Locally on Your Device)

The information you provide within Asteriks is used solely for the purpose of providing you with the money management functionalities of the App, including:
  • Tracking your income and expenses.
  • Categorizing your transactions.
  • Creating and managing budgets.
  • Generating local reports and summaries of your financial data.
  • Allowing you to search and organize your financial entries.

4. Data Security (Your Responsibility for Device Security)

While we design Asteriks to store your data securely on your device, the overall security of your data largely depends on the security of your device. We recommend:
  • Keeping your operating system updated to the latest security patches.
  • Exercising caution when sharing your device with others.
  • Regularly backing up your device to prevent data loss.

Important Note on Data Restoration:

If your device is lost, stolen, or damaged, or if the App is uninstalled without a prior manual export, your data within Asteriks can't be restored. This is because all your financial data is stored exclusively on your device, and we don't maintain any copies or backups on our servers.
To move your data to another device or to safeguard it against device loss, you must manually export your data from the original device using the export functionality provided within the App (if available). This process transfers the data directly from your device to a destination you choose (e.g., a local file, cloud storage you control), and isn't handled by Asteriks' servers.
We aren't responsible for unauthorized access to data stored on your device due to your device's security vulnerabilities or your failure to secure your device. We're also not responsible for data loss due to device issues or the absence of a manual export by the user.

5. Third-Party Access to Information

Asteriks doesn't share, sell, or disclose any of your financial data to third parties.
We may use certain third-party services for non-financial functionalities within the App, such as:
  • Analytics (Aggregated & Anonymous): We may use very limited, non-personally identifiable, and aggregated analytics services (e.g., to understand general app crashes or app performance, not your financial behavior) to improve the App. This data doesn't contain any of your financial information or personal identifiers.
  • Bug Reporting: If the App crashes, we may receive anonymous crash reports that help us fix bugs and improve stability. These reports don't contain any of your financial data.
These third-party services are carefully selected and don't have access to your sensitive financial information stored locally within Asteriks.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App or on our website (if applicable). You're advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
